Vu UltraAndroid Full HD Smart Android Certified TV 2019 | An In-Depth Review| Is It A Bang For Your Buck?
The newly released UltraAndroid series of TVs from Vu, which come with the latest Android official 9.0 operating system, is available on Amazon in three variants, 32 inches, which is an HD Ready TV, and, the 40 and 43 inches’ variants that are full HD. I have reviewed its 43 inches variant on my YouTube channel Techiebeez India, where you can also watch its video review.
Inside the box along with the TV, you get two pieces of table top stand, an LG wall mount, one remote, a power cord, two triple A batteries and a manual guide.
The built quality of the 43 inches TV is pretty good and it is smart to look at. It has 2 HDMI and 2 USB ports. You get both HDMI ARC and CEC on it. The HDMI type is 1080p at 60 fps.
In this TV, you get Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity, apart from other options that include digital optical port, audio output port, headphone jack, AV input port, RF ports and Ethernet port.
You get a built-in Wi-Fi on this TV, which is single band.
This TV comes with A+ grade VA panel and DLED backlighting.
The brightness is 450 Nits and its static contrast ratio is 10000:1.
In this TV, you are provided with umpteen options for picture and audio settings. Apart from manual backlight control, you also get auto dynamic backlight control. This Vu TV comes with Adaptive Luma Control along with digital & MPEG noise control feature. It also has a 11-point white balance correction feature.
Including the Movie Mode, Eco Mode and Cricket Mode, you get 7 picture modes on this TV. This TV also has Game and PC modes on it. You also get the option to control the HDMI RGB range in it.
If you tune this TV to its best settings, the picture quality can be termed as the best in its category, as the blacks on this TV are deep, the colour reproduction is natural and there is an amazing clarity in scenes. Even in dark scenes, you will be able to see all details clearly.
You get to see a depth in its picture, which will surely enhance your viewing experience.
Now coming to its sound; In this TV, you get two channel stereo box speakers, whose total sound output is 24 Watts. It supports both Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital. You are provided with DTS Studio Surround Sound on this TV.
The audio of this TV has the potential to beat even those TVs that proudly flaunt soundbars on them. It also gets an auto volume control on it. You will not need any additional speaker with this TV as its audio is pretty loud with deep bass and good dialogue clarity. You can wirelessly connect your Bluetooth headphone with this TV and watch programmes without disturbing others.
The FHD video quality of this TV is pretty good and the 720p videos too play in good clarity.
HD channels look very good on it and SD channels, according to their transmission, won't disappoint you at all.
The refresh rate of this TV is 60 Hz, however, it doesn't distract you much as the screen is small. And, then, the company has also provided a cricket mode on this TV, which further prevents blur during games.
This is an official Android TV, which has a Quadcore processor and the latest Android 9.0, Pie operating system. The RAM given is 1GB and ROM is 8GB.
The remote gives you one button access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Hotstar and Google Play.
Applications like Netflix, YouTube, Hotstar etc., play smoothly on it. However, I was unable to play Amazon Prime, maybe this was due to the fact that this time, I didn't have a broadband connection.
Though Google assistant button is not provided on the remote, you can download Android TV app on your smartphone and control this TV through your voice.
Recently, in one of my dedicated article, I had apprised you of an application that gives you an instant access to more than 400 channels without any subscription. You can certainly sideload that application on this TV and enjoy unlimited movies and programmes without any fees. To watch that video, click here.
You can also watch movies on this TV through pendrive or any hard drive. This TV supports almost all video formats.
Though this TV comes with Google Chromecast, I found it sluggish when I paired it with my Samsung Galaxy S9 plus.
This TV comes with a 5-star BEE rating and its maximum power consumption is 75 Watts.
In my opinion, this TV is a good buying option in the budget category as it comes with very good picture and audio quality. Apart from this, you can also watch your favourite Android applications like Netflix, YouTube, Hotstar, etc., at the click of a button, provided on the remote. Low end-games can be played directly on this TV, while a gaming console would be needed for playing high-end games. 1GB RAM and 8 GB ROM is insufficient for gaming, but, unfortunately, whether it is Motorola, Mi, Thomson or Vu, all small screen TVs come with this specification only.
